Through the Toyota Driving Possibilities Grant, 1st Maker Space partnered with Lincoln Consolidated Schools in Ypsilanti, Michigan to design and build engaging makerspaces at three elementary schools and one middle school, expanding access to hands-on, student-centered learning across the district. These thoughtfully designed spaces were equipped with age-appropriate tools, materials, and flexible layouts that support creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. In addition to the physical build-out, 1st Maker Space supported educators through professional development in integrating makerspace learning into instruction, empowering students to explore STEM concepts, develop critical thinking skills, and engage in meaningful, real-world learning experiences that foster curiosity and confidence.
