Announcing the Elementary Maker Ed Curriculum

Over the past several months, my team and I have embarked on a journey to write a curriculum that is the first of its kind in the Maker Ed community. We are excited to launch the Elementary Maker Ed Curriculum this fall to Elementary Maker Ed communities across the State of Indiana. This robust STEM and Maker Ed focused curriculum contains units on all things “maker”, including Upcycling and DIY, 3D Printing, as well as STEM and Maker Kits. The collection of 32 lesson plans is aligned to the Indiana Academic Standards in Math, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies, and more - giving educators the tools they need to implement cross-curricular hands-on lessons in the classroom that students will love. This robust curriculum contains the tools and resources need to teach Maker Ed in a virtual, hybrid, and in-person format.

Each lesson has the added benefit of being linked to at least three Employability Skills, which we believe will yield the strongest results for our Hoosier students. Problem solving, critical thinking and teamwork are the essential skills that employers are looking for regardless of the career path that an individual chooses. Each lesson contains a rubric that links to both content and employability skills, allowing educators to provide feedback to students.

Available as a digital download which includes access to our Canvas course.

1st Maker Space also offers a Middle School and High School Maker Curriculum which is being upgraded this fall.
