#HoosierMade

Makerspaces should inspire creativity, design thinking, and innovation. They should also be places that are easy to organize and can handle class after class of students who are anxious to dive into new projects. At 1st Maker Space, we have an exclusive line of furniture designed for makers, by makers. Our furniture is #HoosierMade and designed and built by 1st Maker Space co-founder, Adam Brand.

Our team spent multiple months iterating different furniture designs and working in makerspaces to develop our current line of exclusive makerspace furniture. We listened to teachers, students, and afterschool providers to see what problems existed and identified ways to solve them. We fabricate a number of different pieces, each tailored for different uses in the makerspace. Our Mobile Maker Table with Mess Management is made of 1.75” thick hard maple butcher block top with welded 2” square tube steel legs, routed, sanded, sprayed, and welded in our shop. It is an ideal piece for makerspaces that plan on using a lot of tools. The maple top, unlike laminate surfaces, can be refinished to allow for decades of use in the makerspace. The outlet strip in the middle allows students to plug in hot glue guns, laptops, soldering irons, and more. This solid construction comes from the craftsmanship of Hoosiers who are passionate about making.

During the making process, you can allow students to choose consumables from the Mobile Maker Storage Cart. This cart, like all of our carts, is made from premium birch plywood and has heavy-duty locking 4” casters. It is available in a regular and elementary (31” tall) size. The Mobile Maker Storage Cart can be used to store consumables like colored paper, crayons, tape, bolts, paint, and more. If you are using tools, the Mobile Visible Tool Cart is an ideal way to both store and display tools. The unique design allows students to see all of the tools that are available. After you are finished with your project you can then use our Mobile Making Storage Tower to store and organize the project for each class period or section. It can also be used to store bulk tools or recycling. Create a space just for 3D printing, electronics, or sewing with the Mobile 3D Printing/IoT Cart. It includes a drawer and outlet strip built into the cart. You can even take your whole makerspace on the go with our Mobile Maker Station. This cart is an ideal solution for libraries or innovation hubs and makes a great display station for open making projects.

Do you use your makerspace or STEM Lab for your FIRST Lego League or VEX IQ team? The Robotics Storage Cart holds over twenty-four LEGO Mindstorm Kits. The VEX IQ Table is a favorite among robotics enthusiasts because of its sleek design and space-saving capability. Stop spending half of your practice time setting up the field! The VEX IQ Table has been redesigned to fit the new VEX IQ field and now comes down from the wall with the push of a button.

At 1st Make Space we realize the importance of creating an environment where inspiration thrives and students can learn the employability skills needed to solve tomorrow’s problems. Making is not just a hobby, nor a skill, it is a mindset. Your first makerspace is between your ears. Sometimes you just need the right environment to realize it.

Not sure how to put together your makerspace? Contact us today for a free consultation. We will design and create a 3D model of your next makerspace, STEM Lab, or innovation space. Makers will change the world one solution at a time. #MakersGonnaMake #MadeinaMakerspace
