School City of Hammond
School City of Hammond partnered with 1st Maker Space to build makerspaces in their middle and high schools. This secondary focus allows students to explore career pathways, develop hands-on skills, and engage in real-world problem solving through innovative, project-based learning. These makerspaces are equipped with industry-relevant tools and technologies, empowering students to design, prototype, and create while gaining exposure to careers in engineering, manufacturing, technology, and the trades. By integrating making into the curriculum, students are better prepared for future academic and professional success.
Eggers Middle School
Eggers Middle School serves seventh and eighth grade students in the community of Hammond, IN. It’s makerspace teacher, Mr. Michael Villanueva has taken this makerspace to new heights in his commitment to bringing project-based learning to all students.
Scott Middle School
Scott Middle School is the second middle school in Hammond, IN that serves seventh and eighth grade students. The Scorpions of SMS are leading the way in their makerspace, developing, designing and completing hands-on projects. Led by their makerspace teacher, Mr. Nick Trottier they are well on their way to success.
Hammond Central High School
Hammond Central High School (HCHS) is a state-of-the-art, dynamic school, serving over 2000 students. Hammond Central is paving the way in technology, project-based instruction, and college and career readiness and 1st Maker Space is proud to assist them in the development of the their state-of-the-art makerspace. Led by educator Megan Tiscareno, these students are paving the way for their futures.
Morton High School
Morton High School serves students in ninth through twelfth grade with a focus on engaging student lessons in their makerspace. Makerspace teacher Alex Cerajewski has implemented a space entirely led by student interests and passions and has them creating, designing and developing in incredible ways.
