Flipping the Switch with Educators across Indiana

Last week educators across Indiana gathered at the University of Indianapolis for two days of professional development focused on computer science. It was an amazing conference focused educators sharing best practices with each other. We are truly lucky to be in a state where we can gather to learn and grow together.

1st Maker Space was so excited to launch our newest space at the conference! The University of Indianapolis unveiled its makerspace specifically designed for students in the College of Education. This makerspace will be their learning garden; it will be a place where undergraduates can learn to facilitate making and STEM/STEAM projects.

During the conference, educators had the opportunity to dive into a variety of maker projects and even take home their creations!

We also were contracted to provide the gifts for the conference through the STEM Teach Grant which was an exciting opportunity for us. We chose the Dash Creativity Kit for K-5, the Bit:Booster Media Center Checkout Kit for 6-8, and Arduino Starter Kit for 9-12. All of these kits can be integrated in a variety of ways in the classroom! Check back on our blog over the next few weeks for more ideas of how to integrate these into your classroom. #makersgonnamake
